Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and these four men have been absolutely corrupted.
The four men of the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners just voted to force the one million residents of Hennepin County to pay for improvements for a privately-held entertainment business. They just imposed a 30-year tax upon one million people because a private businessman wanted a nicer place to play ball.
They chose to ignore the Minnesota State law requiring that the residents of Hennepin County vote on whether to accept or reject this tax. They chose to ignore the majority that repeatedly said that they wanted the law upheld and that they wanted the referendum vote that is required by law.
These four who were elected to represent "We, The People" are representing God-only-knows-what special interests.
The referendum law was enacted in order to prevent just the type of abuse of power that these four men have inflicted upon the one million residents of Hennepin County. Please feel free to call them and remind them of that fact. Call each and EVERY ONE of them.
CALL and give them something they haven't figured out how to tax yet :
Give them a duly-earned piece of your mind.
Of course, the odds are small that you will get to speak with an actual commissioner when you call, so you may want to put your thoughts into words and send an email also. Feel free to tell them exactly what you think.
